This week we celebrated World Book Day. It was a fantastic event where we were able to share our love of books and reading. We saw many wonderful outfits from the children and staff ranging from Harry Potter and Mr Tickle to the Queen of Hearts! We also enjoyed looking at a selection of the children’s ‘Extreme Reading’ photos.
In assembly, the children were challenged with the ‘Take a Shelfie’ game. Photos were displayed of book shelves belonging to different staff members. The children used the book titles to identify the owner of the shelf; we definitely have some budding detectives!
In addition, to encourage children to read a wider range of books, each class took part in a World Book Day quiz where they were tested on their knowledge of characters, authors and plots.
Finally, each class was invited to visit the library throughout the day. Here, they were able to use their detective skills again, to try to guess which story characters were coming to tea from a selection of clues on the table.
