We have an eager eco committee member in each class and they attend frequent meetings with the school’s eco agenda in mind. Following their environmental review of the school in October last year, the eco committee identified main areas that need work within the school. The group agreed to focus on one area each term, and here’s what they’ve been working on.
Spring 1 – litter – clean up school grounds
Spring 2 – plastic colection – reduce waste
Summer 1 – garden – planting new school grounds
Summer 2 – transport – walk to school
Find out more by looking at the school’s eco notice board outside the main hall.
We found a surprising amount of litter when we did the litter pick.
After getting the classes to collect their plastic waste, we had a slot in assembly where we encouraged everyone to reduce, reuse and recycle plastic. We also introduced the idea of eco bricks, which Transition Marlborough had told us about. Find out more by visiting the eco bricks website by clicking here.
