Staying Safe Online

At Marlborough St Marys, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils is of the highest priority and therefore we do not promote or endorse the use of social media by our pupils.  We hope that parents will support us in this.

In school, children are educated about staying safe online and are not allowed access to any social media sites or apps. There are very clear guidelines about the age at which children should be allowed access to social media, and no social media sites or apps are thought to be appropriate for primary aged children e.g. Instagram (13), What’s App (16), Facebook (13), Snapchat (13).

The school will continue to organise events for parents and children so we can all understand better how to stay safe online and we hope that you will be able to attend.  Meanwhile, NetAware is an excellent website developed by the NSPCC and O2 which provides clear information about appropriate ages and possible risks of all the popular social media and gaming websites and we encourage you to look at this.
