Kingfisher and Heron

Welcome to Year 6!

Year 6 is one of the most memorable years at Primary school, full of experiences that will last a lifetime. We have an exciting year planned with a range of opportunities ahead to support our learning.  There is so much to look forward to this year, including: an exciting curriculum, immersive days like our evacuation day, trips to Pencelli (our residential), galleries and museums, the opportunity to be a House Captain or school Prefect, and the Year 6 experience would not be complete without our production at the end of the year!
Your last year at Marlborough St Mary's is going to be brilliant!

We will regularly keep in contact with Class Dojo but please feel free to talk to us at the end of the school day.

Our wonderful Year 6 teaching team

Heron Class – Miss Derbyshire (class teacher) and Mrs Hatch (teaching assistant)

Kingfisher Class - Miss Angell (class teacher) and Mrs Angelo (teaching assistant).

PE days

Please send your child in prepared for PE on the following days –

Thursday for both classes (outdoor sports activities)

Monday for Kingfisher (indoor sports activities)

Tuesday for Heron (indoor sports activities)

Homework

Homework is due on a Monday morning.

  •  We encourage our children to read a wide variety of high-quality texts at school and also at home. Every week, children are expected to read at home at least five times and this should be recorded on the platform 'Learning for Parents'.
  • We will use Times Tables Rock Stars to help support learning multiplication facts. Please ensure your child is practising their times tables throughout the week.
  • Later in the year, we will provide your child with CGP revision books in preparation for their SATs in the spring. The children will be set 1–2 pages of work to complete for Maths, Grammar, Spelling and Reading comprehension.

Please see below for our knowledge organisers for each term.
