Outdoor Learning
At Marlborough St Mary's primary school, outdoor learning is considered a vital component of our educational approach. We believe that outdoor learning allows students to connect with the natural world, developing a sense of appreciation and responsibility towards the environment. It also promotes physical activity, improving overall health and well-being.
Thanks to a generous private investment, our school has developed an exceptional Forest School area that provides children with hands-on, immersive learning experiences. At the heart of this space is our stunning Roundhouse, where pupils can cook their own recipes over an open fire, fostering creativity, teamwork, and a deep connection to nature. Complementing this, our impressive poly tunnel offers opportunities for woodworking, vegetable growing for our school kitchen, and wood whittling—encouraging practical skills, sustainability, and a love for the outdoors.
We also have a fantastic wild area for exploring wildlife, learning about frogspawn and helping build our own pond!
