Welcome to Year 1!

We have an exciting year planned with a range of opportunities ahead to support our learning.  This year we will be learning about the Great Fire of Marlborough and will visit key sites from the fire, and later in the year we will be heading to Bristol Aquarium to consolidate our science topic on animals. Your child’s Year 1 experience also wouldn’t be complete without being a part of the nativity in December.

We will regularly keep in contact by Class Dojo and please feel free to talk to us at the end of the school day.

PE days

Please send your child in prepared for PE on the following days –

Hedgehog – Tuesday (outdoors) and Friday (indoors)

Squirrel – Tuesday (indoors) and Thursday (outdoors)

How to support your child at home:

• Read with your child using their school reading book - record your reading on https://learningwithparents.com/ 
• Read bedtime stories
• Encourage your child to play Numbots to develop their mathematical fluency
• Watch phonics video links that are sent home weekly on Class Dojo.
